Hardware

On Friday, 2011-06-10, I visited a local hobby shop (Flightline Hobby, fantastic place) and picked up a fair amount of what I need for stages one and two of this project.

Proton4 chargerProton4 charger by CommonSenseRC. Takes a 11-15VDC, 5-8A supply and will charge any LiPo or LiFe batteries from 2-4S at up to 4A charge rate. Nice little charger.
Hyperion LiPoHyperion Cx G3 LiPo battery, 5000mAH @ 2S/7.4V. Should keep things running for about half an hour all told.
A10-9LA10-9L brushless DC motor from Hacker. This motor will be driving an 8x4.3 GWS propeller for thrust. This is a 1700Kv motor.
8x4.3 GWS propsTwo 8x4.3 GWS propellers, since our collection of props stops at 6x4.
Thunderbird-9 ESCTwo Thunderbird-9 ESC's from Castle Creations. Looks like a pretty fantastic 10A controller.
BL2204/14 motorBL2204/14 brushless DC motor. This will drive the other 8x4.3 prop for lift. This is a 1400Kv motor.
Initial ChargingInitial charging. I do not currently have a suitable DC power supply, but a 7.2AH SLA works fine in a pinch. Charge time from 45% to full capacity was an impressive 30 minutes at 4A.
A10-9L with propHacker motor with prop on a propsaver.
BL2204/14 with propBL2204/14 motor with prop on a propsaver. I may steal one of the o-rings that came with the Hacker for this--that band is awfully sloppy.
